The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) Finance office is seeking a detailed oriented individual to fill a Fiscal Specialist (FS) II vacancy. The incumbent of this position will be required to work both with a team and independently. This position is responsible for centrally coordinating the department's accounts payable function, performing basic coding of financial accounting and/or fiscal information; performing calculations involving accounts payable; and reconciliation of statements and invoices. Work is performed under general supervision and requires a moderate degree of independent judgment. This position requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure department bills are processed accurately and in accordance with King County policies.

This position is open to everyone for application. This is a 40-hour per week, overtime eligible position. Scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The work space for this position will be located in the King County Courthouse (516 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104). Incumbents of this position are expected to work additional hours, which may include evenings and weekends as needed.
Only the top selected candidates will be invited to interview. It is a hiring requirement that all staff employed by DAJD successfully pass a thorough background investigation process, which includes fingerprinting, criminal history check, a polygraph examination, reference checks, and other tests as deemed necessary.
This position is represented by the Public Safety Employees Union, Non-Commissioned Employees. Our successful candidate will be required to join the Union within 30 calendar days after beginning employment.

SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare accounts payable (A/P) requisitions, process vendor invoices, performing basic coding of accounting information.
- Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers with regard to appropriate and applicable codes, policies, regulations, contracts, and laws.
- Resolve issues working with vendor and King County Central A/P, both verbally and through written correspondence.
- Monitor A/P using the county's financial system (Oracle EBS) and update reports and spreadsheets with relevant payment data.
- Maintain P-card records for the department.
- Maintain vendor contract records and payment log.
- Prepare and submit procurement service requests.
- Compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, or computer files, including spreadsheets and/or customized database applications.
- Conduct orientation and/or train co-workers.
- Maintain and update assigned work procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope and area of assignment.
Desirable candidates will possess:
- High school diploma or G.E.D and 3 years of full-time accounts payable work experience;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience providing detailed explanations of business decisions;
- Experience in conflict resolution and problem solving techniques to resolve complaints and interpretation of procedures and policies;
- Writing skills sufficient to compose, edit and maintain a variety of documents, reports, procedures and correspondence using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation;
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Highly desirable candidates will also have:
- Associate degree in business administration or closely related field and 2 years of full-time accounts payable work experience performing work similar to duties listed for this position;
- Intermediate level of proficiency MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Experience working in Oracle EBS or similar program;
- Experience working with P-cards and reconciling P-card transactions.
