Payroll Support Specialist

Your Primary Responsibilities would include:

• Front desk main point of contact for Central Payroll Operations to department and agency staff and build relationships of trust, respect, and partnership through excellent customer service in person, by phone, and through written correspondence;
 
• Coordinate the countywide payroll distribution for bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. Control of related paper stock, printing, and oversee quality control;
 
• Administer payroll for the Payroll Operations Team;

• Process miscellaneous receipts for BPROS section and assist with reconciliation. Prepare and process purchase orders, billing, and invoicing through Oracle Financials;
 
• Administer contract services, evaluate potential vendors for services, supplies, and equipment, and represent Payroll Operations for on-going vendor contracts for services and supplies;
 
• Organize and coordinate PeopleSoft Forums, staff meetings, and other ad hoc projects as assigned;
 
• Organize, oversee, track, and maintain files with a high degree of accuracy.

We are looking for candidates who:
 
• Have experience providing excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills;

• Have experience in a busy, fast-paced office and the ability to handle multiple competing deadlines and remain calm under pressure;

• Have experience handling sensitive and confidential information;

• Have experience with accounting, reconciliation, and general accounting procedures;

• Are skilled in written and verbal communication;
 
• Have excellent and proven organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative and the lead when needed;
 
• Are proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent;
 
• Any equivalent combination of experience and education which proves the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work.

We would love it if you had:
 
• Experience in a central payroll operations organization;
 
• Experience as a timekeeper in PeopleSoft and or in PeopleSoft modules;
 
• General Ledger accounting experience for a public sector organization;
 
• Knowledge of EBS/ Oracle.

This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime-eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 117 – Professional & Technical.

Our successful candidate will be required to join the union and pay dues. The job classification for this position is Fiscal Specialist III.
