Sandbags are provided free of charge. It's part of the mission of the Flood Control District to provide resources so residents can protect their homes, business, and property from flooding.
I had the opportunity to join King County Flood Control District Vice Chair Dave Upthegrove last week in demonstrating how to fill sandbags. For a quick video tutorial, click here.
There are a number of sandbag distribution locations throughout the County. Using sandbags is a simple, but effective way to prevent or reduce damage from flooding.
I would encourage anyone living in a floodplain to find out where the closest sandbag distribution center is located, should the need arise.

Until 1965, Pinnacle Peak, located just outside the City of Enumclaw, had an iconic fire lookout tower that provided visitors with a 360 degrees view at the top, which included a beautiful view of Mt. Rainier.
Thanks to a grassroot effort of residents on the Enumclaw Plateau working to rebuild the historic fire lookout, I was able to secure $10,000 in the King County Budget for the project.
I’m glad to be able to support this community effort to rebuild the Pinnacle Peak Fire Lookout. This fire lookout will be a great addition to the Enumclaw area and region.
