Petco Foundation has awarded RASKC a $75,000 grant to continue the shelter’s lifesaving efforts. Funds will be used to provide cat condos  at the shelter in an effort to create more space and reduce stress of long-term residents. RASKC Translates Website into Top 5 King County Languages

globe-languages

RASKC Adminstrator Lluvia Ellison-Morales creates immense value for RASKC in so many ways. One of her recent achievements was adding two more languages on the RASKC website. The website’s major service pages – pet licensing, adoption, surrendering a pet, animal control services, lost and found pets – are now all available in King County’s top six languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Somali and Russian. The website provides multiple ways for residents to navigate to the multilingual service pages, promoting RASKC’s use of providing language interpretation phone-services to the public when needed. Recognizing RASKC’s April Volunteer of the Month

volunteer of the month - april 2017

Meet Volunteer of the Month Christina Haines! Christina serves with valor in the very demanding role as RASKC’s Dog Team Scheduler for the volunteers based in Kent. She works very hard to ensure there is enough volunteer coverage – but not too much- to care for the dogs for each of six shifts every day. Last year she juggled the schedules of 99 volunteers who contributed a total of 3,746 hours. Christina also worked a weekly early morning shift with RASKC dogs for over two years prior to becoming the scheduler. Read a great interview with Christina at RASKC’s blog here.

Cheers to Melissa Blake, RASKC volunteer extraordinaire, for setting up this fun volunteer opportunity!

Seattle International Beerfest will donate $50 to RASKC for each 21+ year old volunteer who works a 3.5 hour shift at their event on Sunday, July 9 from 3:15- 6:45pm. The work involves taking tickets, pouring small glasses of beer, and smiling. If 40 people volunteer through RASKC for this event, our Angel Fund will receive $2,000. Melissa has already signed up 23 volunteers, so we need more people to sign up by May 1. If you can help out, please contact her at MelissaBlake411@gmail.com.

RASKC’s Angel Fund covers the costs of extraordinary medical expenses for some of our neediest animals, like the kitten who needed hip surgery.

Seattle International Beerfest is a three-day event at the Seattle Center that raises money for local animal charities. Here’s a toast to animal philanthropy and wonderful volunteering!
