Unveiling over 160 years of history by recognizing our fallen deputies in the first-ever King County Sheriff Memorial

Today I joined King County Sheriff John Urquhart and over 40 family members of 16 fallen deputies in a ceremony dedicating the first-ever King County Fallen Deputy Memorial.
With heavy hearts we remembered the deputies who fell in the line of duty while joining the rest of Washington State in mourning the fallen Tacoma Police Officer who was killed last Wednesday night.
It was a great honor to see the result of the partnership with Sheriff Urquhart to sponsor legislation creating this memorial.
King County does not forget its fallen. Gathering here today we honored those who, while working for the safety of our neighborhoods, communities, and region, made the ultimate sacrifice. This memorial for
the 16 fallen deputies is a symbol of more than 160 years of dedication and
priceless sacrifice.
King County Sheriff Captain Greg Thomas, Councilmember Reagan Dunn, and Sheriff John Urqhuart proudly stand in front of the newly dedicated memorial.

Every four years, my colleagues and I on the King
County Council work with local jurisdictions, communities, and residents to
create the King County Comprehensive Plan which is the guiding policy document
for land use and development in unincorporated King County.
Monday, December 5th at 1:30 p.m. the Council plans to take final action on the proposed 2016 King County Comprehensive Plan (KCCP) and hear public comment.
This is an opportunity to share your concerns or support. To read a draft version of the plan click here.
If you'd like to submit comments online go to the KCCP website and
do so by clicking on the "Submit online public testimony" button.
Monday's meeting will take place in Council Chambers
on the 10th floor of the King County Courthouse. If you cannot attend these
meetings in person, but wish to follow the proceedings, you can watch on KCTV cable channel 22 or online.
