The King County Comprehensive Plan (KCCP) is the guiding policy document for land use and development regulations in unincorporated King County, and for regional services throughout the County including transit, sewers, parks, trails, and open space. It is updated every four years to reflect our changing region.
Since March, the Council has been reviewing and deliberating the Executive’s 2016 KCCP proposal, including holding a series of 10 committee briefings over the last 6 months. Based on discussions during the committee briefings, as well as public comments, on September 1 the Chair of the Transportation Economy and Environment Committee issued a proposed Striking Amendment to the Executive’s proposed 2016 KCCP.
This striking amendment proposes changes to policies in the Comprehensive Plan itself, the technical appendices to the Comprehensive Plan, land use and zoning designations in several unincorporated areas of the County, Fairwood, Federal Way, Preston, Issaquah, Snoqualmie Valley, Hobart, Covington, Enumclaw, Vashon Island, and Maple Valley, and the development code.
All elements of the Executive’s proposal and the striking amendment package can be found on the Council’s KCCP website.
The Council will continue to accept public comments throughout the entire process. Public comment will be heard at the September 20th Committee meeting and at the public hearing on November 28. Or written comments can be submitted online through the KCCP website link included above.
Fairwood 50 was a big success. Approximately 1,000 people attended the many events the day had to offer, including the 5K Fun Run in the morning, our lunchtime concert and festival, the First Responders Show and Tell, and finally the Movie in the Park. I was so pleased to see residents of all ages and backgrounds enjoying the festivities made possible in part by your generous support.
