This week, I had the opportunity to attend the Association of Washington cities conference in Spokane!
We kicked off the week with the Parade of Flags, and I had the chance to represent Kent by showing off our city's flag.
It was a fun way to unite all the cities present and celebrate everything that makes Washington so great!

Life-Saving Award
On April 11, 2023, Kent Patrol Officer Fisher responded to a CPR in progress near Pacific Hwy. S and S. 260th St. A semi-truck driver was experiencing a medical emergency and had struck a concrete barrier. He was unresponsive and did not have a pulse.
Three strangers, Martin Flores, Hector Gomez and Phil Zegler stopped to help. They provided life sustaining CPR and called 911. These three good Samaritans acted immediately and preserved this man's chances of survival.
Officer Fisher was close by and was the initial First Responder on the scene. He took over chest compressions for several minutes until Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority and King County Medics arrived to continue lifesaving efforts.
The driver, Mr. McMaster, survived.
Tuesday night at city council, the three civilian heroes were awarded the Chief's Award of Citizen Commendation. and Chief Padilla awarded the Kent PD life saving medal to Officer Fisher.
In attendance was Mr. McMaster and his family where they made a generous donation of $10,000 to our Kent Police Officers Foundation Fund. This fund helps Kent Officers and their families when they have a crisis.
So proud of our heroes here in Kent!

The City of Kent Employee Charity Committee presented Sound Generation Meals on Wheels a $2,500 donation during Tuesday's council meeting.
Funds were raised by employees during an annual, internal, Spring Plant Sale where they sold hanging flowers baskets from Carpinto Brothers.
Sound Generations Meals on Wheels provides food support to older adults in the King County area, delivering 900 meals a week in Kent. They are a local non-profit we are incredibly grateful to have in our community.
