Happy Friday, Kent!
Final reminder! Join me this Tuesday for my annual State of the City Address!
I'll be sharing updates about what the city has accomplished, what we're working on and what's on the way. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
It's a great event where you can get some insight into how your tax dollars are being spent to improve the Kent community, and ongoing programs and initiatives.
Hope to see you there and have a great weekend!
Dana Ralph, Kent Mayor
At Tuesday's Kent City Council meeting, the city's Race & Equity Strategic Plan passed unanimously! bit.ly/3kphys6
After extensive outreach, community engagement and an inclusive co-design process, this plan is another step forward toward reaching equitable outcomes.

Tuesday afternoon, I had a fun afternoon reading to all of Horizon Elementary’s kindergarten classes for their “guest read-in” day!
We read "The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors" by Drew Daywalt and "Madeline Finn and the Library Dog" by Lisa Papp. The kids were fantastic and really engaged with such fun stories!

Institute for Community Leadership
Wednesday morning, Governor Jay Inslee, his wife Trudi and I were invited to learn more about the Institue for Community Leadership's outdoor connections program.
90 high school students from all over south King County participate in this program where students leave the electronic devices behind, and jump in hand and feet first into soil, water, gardens, forest and a private tribal ocean beach.
The students showed us how they are working on the salmon habitat and riparian restoration on Little Soos Creek. We also visited the Quinault Totem, the ICL Cultural mural and the outdoor classroom and kitchen.
These kids are really dedicated to maintaining our state's waters, salmon and community health.

Earlier this week, there was a great article published by geekwire on Kent-based Stoke Space!
They are developing a fully reusable orbital-class rocket, with the promise that they'll bring Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 14 back to life in a way that pays homage to the Mercury astronauts and NASA workers who used it in the 1960s. Read the article here!

Our Spotlight Series continues with Matt Dusk sings Sinatra. It's that classy style and energy from the Rat Pack shows of yesterday right here, right now.
Take a journey with Award-Winning, Multi-Platinum selling crooner Matt Dusk as he whisks you away to Las Vegas in 1966 where he pays homage to his hero Frank Sinatra.
Matt Dusk has been enthralling audiences around the world for years, leaving in his wake a series of radio hits, acclaimed albums, and a loyal fan base. After several successful jazz and pop albums, Dusk returns to his roots with Sinatra, an up-tempo tribute to the Chairman of the Board himself.
