National Public Works Week
National Public Works Week celebrates and honors the work of public works employees across the county.
Our public works staff brings the City to life every single day, and we have the best of the best here in Kent. We've been sharing photos of our staff at their stations and out in the field all week long on our social media!
These essential employees dedicate themselves to making all our lives better by providing vital services like maintaining our infrastructure, which greatly enhances the quality of life for all residents in our community.
I'm grateful for their exceptional work and service to Kent residents and our community!
National Police Week
National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
This special week is our time to remember our friends and family who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
We also celebrate and honor the thousands of men and women who are out on the streets continuing to serve their communities, and pay tribute to the parents, spouses and children who wait for them to return home safely after their shifts.
We hire the best at the Kent Police Department. Our officers are committed, they care, and they want to keep our Kent community safe, and I am thankful for their dedication.

At Tuesday's council meeting I proclaimed May 20 as Women in Aerospace Day in Kent! We want to bring awareness to the need for more women in STEM fields, particularly aerospace.
I want to thank Nikki Malcom, CEO & Executive Director of Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance, for attending.

I had a great time last weekend at the Kent YMCA for our Bike Rodeo put together by our Bicycle Advisory Board.
Making sure kids know how to enjoy and handle a bike, and how to be safe while riding is important, and it was a fun event for all who attended. |
