What’s Next for Middle Housing? City Council to Hear Planning Commission’s Recommendations April 21 On April 15, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on proposed middle housing code amendments, including updates to Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations and regulations for affordable housing. After the hearing, the Planning Commission voted 4-3 to recommend that the City Council consider adopting the proposed changes. The Planning Commission will present its recommendations to the City Council at a joint meeting on April 21.
There will be opportunities for additional public comment and community input at the City Council meetings on May 5, and if needed, on May 12 and May 27. If the City Council makes significant changes to the Planning Commission’s recommendations, an additional public hearing will be required—tentatively scheduled for June 9. Final adoption of the code amendments is expected at or before the June 23 City Council meeting in order to meet the state-mandated deadline of June 30. For more information, see the City’s webpage or contact Todd Hall.
