Leonora Palaña joins City of Kenmore as Human Resources Manager, with focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Leonora Palaña has accepted a position as the Human Resources Manager for the City of Kenmore. Ms. Palaña will take over the direction and leadership of this newly created role, with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
Ms. Palaña, a Kenmore resident, brings over 20 years of experience in the field of human resources, including 13 years of government agency experience working as a Senior Talent Acquisition Representative for the Port of Seattle. Prior to the Port of Seattle, Ms. Palaña was the Human Resources Manager in New York City for W Times Square hotel and W Seattle.
In addition to managing employee recruitment, training, and personnel policies, Ms. Palaña will provide strategic leadership to support the City of Kenmore's DEI initiatives, a Kenmore City Council priority for 2021-2022. Ms. Palaña will serve as the lead on community outreach, administering a DEI advisory committee, and implementing DEI policies and programs.
Ms. Palaña's background in social services, including experience working and volunteering with several community-based organizations made her an exceptional candidate in a competitive search to fill the position. "I am thrilled to be joining the City of Kenmore and to be given the opportunity to make a positive impact in my own community," said Ms. Palaña. "Reflecting on the path that brought me back to Kenmore, I am reminded of a quote by George A. Moore, 'A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.'"
