Bus travel is one of the safest ways to get around our community, and it's free! Riding the bus gives youth independence. Youth can take the bus to the library, to after school activities, to work, to sports practice, or even to school.
We created a new webpage to help youth prepare for riding the bus. Teens can also watch this fun and helpful video about riding the bus.
Due to COVID-19 we temporarily reduced bus service. To learn about these service changes and how we are working to keep our passengers and employees safe, please visit our website.

Help us design a traffic safety yard sign and you could win a $50 gift card! We are partnering with Target Zero, Safe Kids and the Olympia Police Department to print and distribute yard signs with traffic safety messages. The signs will be displayed at homes located in school zones and neighborhoods where students walk and roll. The goal of this pilot project is to encourage drivers to slow down to improve safety.
All Thurston County teens can participate in the art challenge. Your sign must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- No more than four colors.
- 24 x 18 inches.
- All graphics of people rolling (for example: biking or skateboarding) must wear a helmet.
- Text and graphics must be visible to drivers passing by.
- Each sign needs to include one of the following slogans:Drive slowly for a safer Oly, Safe Drivers = Good Neighbors, Save lives, not seconds.
To participate email a JPG of your sign to walknroll@intercitytransit.com by Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. For more information about the yard sign pilot project visit the website.
