The Washington Thriving Strategic Plan was released to the Legislature and is now available for all partners in Washington. The plan which was co-designed by individuals with lived experience provides a long-term framework to build a cohesive behavioral health system that works from prenatal to age 25, aligns with lived experience, centers equitable access, and strengthens our state’s entire ecosystem of supports.
Why this matters:
- Young people, families, and caregivers in Washington currently face a fragmented and crisis-driven behavioral health system.
- The plan sets out a vision where every child, youth, and young adult thrives, with families and communities supported.
- It emphasizes prevention, early intervention, and a connected continuum of care.
- It requires system change, collaboration across agencies and sectors, and alignment with community-grounded experiences.
What’s next: Over the next several years, Washington will implement sequenced initiatives toward this vision. Immediate actions include strengthening system governance, expanding perinatal supports, and boosting behavioral health services in K–12 settings. We welcome your role in this effort; to review the plan, consider how your organization or program aligns, and engage in coming implementation efforts.
