Help LCB collect photos of Kratom products
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) and the Washington Poison Center (WAPC) are partnering on an environmental scan of kratom products to help better understand what is being sold across the state.
You can help by 1) sharing this announcement with your networks and 2) contributing photos of kratom and 7-OH products. As you see kratom and 7-OH products on shelves in your community, snap a picture and use this survey link to send it to LCB.

Starts with One campaign introduces brand refresh, new pain management resources
The Starts with One opioid misuse prevention campaign has undergone a refresh. The campaign features an updated logo, website, and new materials. It's also placing emphasis on educating patients with short-term injuries, surgery, or acute pain about effective pain management.
Grounded in the idea that being in pain can feel like being out of control, the campaign aims to help patients regain their sense of security by knowing options and making a plan.

New post-overdose toolkit for friends and family
The Health Care Authority (HCA) is sharing a new post-overdose toolkit for friends and family, for individuals whose loved ones survived an overdose.
This toolkit "helps the helpers" with educational materials for family, caregivers, or loved ones in the aftermath of someone close to them surviving an overdose.
Informed by the collective wisdom of those with lived experience and in partnership with Health Management Associates, HCA wrote this guide for a broad audience, with siblings, parents, friends, partners, caretakers, and other close relationships in mind. This guide draws on the real experiences of people who love someone who has survived an overdose, clinicians, and health policy experts.

During a recent CPWI Provider Meeting, participants were encouraged to share the "why," passion, or driving purpose behind why they engage in prevention work.

Community spotlight: Wahkiakum Community Network announces new logo
As communities rebuild after COVID-19, Wahkiakum Community Network (WCN) saw a resurgence in membership. With new energy and the mission statement "to empower our youth, families, schools and community to live healthy lives physically and mentally, promoting well-being for all," members felt it was time to refresh the logo.
At the September Wahkiakum Community Network meeting, the coalition agreed to adopt a student created logo following a contest sponsored by the coalition. Beth Brophy created the winning design while participating in a high school art class.

Adolescent Health Initiative (AHI) resource supports youth impacted by community violence
Adolescent Health Initiative (AHI) published a free training module exploring trauma, community violence, trauma-informed care, youth engagement, and how school-based health centers can foster partnerships with youth to address community violence.
For young people experiencing the traumas of community violence, school-based health centers (SBHC) can be a lifeline. But how can SBHC staff approach their interactions with adolescents in a sensitive, empowering way?
Resources, videos, and real-world examples will guide school staff and youth-serving professionals to work with youth to establish safe, welcoming spaces – both inside and outside of school – where they can connect, support each other, and thrive.

Hablemos de Salud is Department of Health's new source of information and resources to promote wellness and health equity in the Spanish-speaking communities.

HearMeWA Youth Advisory Group recruitment
The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting members for the HearMeWA Youth Advisory Group. The purpose of the HearMeWA Youth Advisory Group is to ensure that HearMeWA is and stays youth centered. Youth Advisory Group members provide meaningful input to the decision-making process to the Attorney General’s Office’s Youth Program team when it comes to HearMeWA's outreach and engagement and program feedback. Youth Advisory Group members will be compensated for their time and effort.

Building and sustaining a coalition isn’t easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. CADCA’s National Coalition Academy™ (NCA) is a hands-on training program that gives you the structure, guidance, and skills to move your coalition work forward with confidence.
Over the course of three weeks, you’ll:
- Learn proven strategies and frameworks to improve your coalition’s efforts
- Develop key coalition tools that will guide your coalition, such as a strategic plan, evaluation plan, communications plan, and more
- Receive expert guidance and support from CADCA trainers
- Build relationships with fellow coalitions with similar goals

New feature: Select Member/Partner Groups
Multiple volunteers can now be added to a capacity and implementation activity in one click! Use the new “Select Member Groups” and “Select Partner Groups” features in capacity and implementation activities to add all volunteers in member or partner group to an activity rather than selecting each volunteer individually. To learn more about how to create a member group or partner group, review the Minerva 2.0 User Guide - Build Capacity Channel (Combined) pages 19-20 and 25. New field: Mail Back Envelopes Distributed
A new Mail Back Envelopes Distributed button now appears in implementation activities when “Rx Safe Storage and/or Take Back/Return” is selected for the Strategy field. This new field is an open text field to report the total number of mail back envelopes distributed with an activity. To learn more about this new field, review the Minerva 2.0 User Guide – Implement Channel (Combined) on page 4.
