Shared decision making (SDM) allows patients and providers to make health care decisions together. It is a key component of patient-centered care. SDM takes into account what is important to the patient—and clinical evidence—so the patient can choose what is right for them.
The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) offers a free online SDM training course.
About the training course
- Approximately 90 minutes, self-paced.
- Focuses on the core competencies necessary to build provider confidence in doing SDM effectively and efficiently.
- Provides CMEs.
- Uses an interactive format.
