Upcoming changes to ProviderOne for billing providers, behavioral health agencies (BHA), and tribal BHAs

Effective March 1, 2025:

Billing providers will be required to enter their business license number and taxonomy or taxonomies in ProviderOne for each facility or location.
BHAs and tribal BHAs will also be required to enter their Department of Health (DOH) facility license number in ProviderOne for each facility or location.

Current billing providers, BHAs, and tribal BHAs can begin providing this information March 1. They will be required to provide this information at their provider revalidation review period.

Placeholder code

The Health Care Authority (HCA) will add the following placeholder code in all current billing provider domains for licenses, taxonomies, and business licenses.

Specialization/taxonomy

19991TEMPL – DO NOT USE – STATE STAFF USE ONLY.

There is a specialization/taxonomy assigned to each location worked in every provider file.

Licenses and certifications

Current billing providers will see their business license assigned to each facility or location in their billing provider file. Additional guidance is available on HCA's website.

New mass upload feature in ProviderOne

Effective March 1, 2025 is a new mass upload feature in ProviderOne that allows for updating multiple DOH licenses, taxonomies, and other information all at once using an Excel file format, rather than manually entering in ProviderOne. Instructions will be published when they are available.
