On February 19, 2025, DOH is hosting virtual information and feedback sessions about the development of a new Youth-Friendly Certification program.
What is the Youth-Friendly Care Certification?
The certification will recognize and designate medical and behavioral health clinics or practices that promote youth-friendly care in alignment with DOH's criteria. The DOH Adolescent Health Team is collaborating with partners, teens, and young adults to develop the certification.
This new certification is in response to feedback from young people who want more youth-centered care that is:
- High-quality
- Age-appropriate
- Culturally relevant
- Inclusive
- Safe
Who should attend?
Attendance at the information session is encouraged for any of the following who are serving youth:
- Medical and behavioral health providers
- Professionals
- Administrators
- Staff
- Primary care and family practice
- Community health clinics
- School-based health centers
- Family planning and reproductive health clinics
- Outpatient mental and behavioral health
And are interested in becoming certified or sharing feedback, ideas, and recommendations about the new certification.

- Youth-defined criteria for youth friendly care
- Certification structure, eligibility, and how to apply
- Questions and feedback from attendees
