The Health Care Cost Transparency Board (Cost Board) and two of its advisory committees will meet next month.

Thursday, November 7
Cost Board meeting
2–5 p.m.
Meet on Zoom or in person at HCA
During this meeting, the Cost Board will:
- Hear about best practices from other state cost boards, including comprehensive data collection, compliance mechanisms, market oversight authority, price regulation authority, and adequate funding via sustainable funding mechanisms.
- Learn about a model policy to address consolidation and closures in health care and consider potential recommendations for health care market oversight and transparency.
- Review spending trends in Washington state from 2010-2022.
- Review a summary of work to date on facility fees.
- Vote on the Cost Board’s final draft 2024 Legislative Report. There will be an opportunity for people to share their comments on this report in November.
Wednesday, November 20
Joint meeting: advisory committees of Health Care Stakeholders and Data Issues
2-5 p.m.
Meet on Zoom or in person at HCA
- From 2-3 p.m., the Health Care Stakeholders Advisory Committee will hear from a panel on the impact of medical debt on consumers and consider policy options to address that debt.
- From 3-4 p.m., both advisory committees will review spending trends in Washington state from 2010-2022.
- From 4-5 p.m., the Advisory Committee on Data Issues will:
- Hear a presentation from the Department of Health on the data reports they receive from hospitals.
- Discuss opportunities to improve the efficiency and transparency of all hospital reporting.

You can also submit comments in writing at any time. All feedback is shared with Cost Board members.
