Attention providers
What is changing?
Effective for dates of service on and after October 1, 2024, the Health Care Authority (HCA) created a new Pregnancy-Related Services Billing Guide. Information was moved out of HCA’s Physician-Related Services/Healthcare Professional Services Billing Guide to this new guide.
No policy was changed. HCA’s intent for this new guide is to improve clarity and usability regarding pregnancy-related services payable by HCA when provided to eligible clients. Sections in this new billing guide include but are not limited to the following: client eligibility, global (total) obstetrical (OB) care, coding for unbundled OB care, anesthesia for labor and delivery, and abortion/pregnancy loss services.
Effective for dates of service on and after October 1, 2024, HCA also published a revised Physician-Related Services/Healthcare Professional Services Billing Guide with updates, which include the removal of the information used to create the new Pregnancy-Related Services Billing Guide. For more details, both billing guides may be viewed and downloaded from HCA’s Provider billing guides and fee schedules webpage.
