Doxycycline for postexposure prophylaxis to treat bacterial STI infection provider alert

This bulletin is being sent by the Health Care Authority (HCA) on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH).

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) issues a provider alert for doxy PEP to prevent bacterial sexually transmitted infections. The full provider alert includes easy to access CDC doxy PEP guidelines and considerations for ancillary clinical services.

The alert includes dosing and prescribing recommendations and best practices for supporting patients in doxy PEP use.

New resources are now available online.

The provider alert has been posted on sexually transmitted infections webpage.
A new doxy PEP for bacterial STI prevention webpage is now available and includes Frequently Asked Questions, information, and resources for Washington health care providers, patient navigators, and patients.
More information is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
