Health Care Authority to launch contingency management within the Medicaid framework

Contingency management (CM) is an evidence-based behavioral intervention for stimulant use disorder, opioid use disorder, and alcohol use disorder. Efforts are underway at the Health Care Authority to launch CM within the Medicaid framework at behavioral health agencies.

Apply to be a CM site

The Health Care Authority will be selecting 10 initial sites from around Washington for the initial CM go-live as part of the Medicaid Transformation Waiver. In addition, HCA will be adding 10 new sites per year for five consecutive years.

The CM interest and readiness tool will assess if sites meet the requirements for implementing CM. This tool is the first step in site selection.
