Attention providers:
New tax exemption for Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT)
Effective August 1, 2023, the Department of Revenue (DOR) began allowing the purchase of complex rehabilitation technology (CRT) mobility enhancing equipment to be tax exempt. The Health Care Authority (HCA) just learned of this tax exemption from providers and is updating the ProviderOne system to reflect the new tax-exempt status and modify provider payments.
When and how will HCA recoup the overpayment of the tax?
The updates to ProviderOne will be completed by October 1, 2024. At that time, HCA will begin recouping the overpayments of the tax for dates of service on and after August 1, 2023. Until October 1, 2024, providers will continue to receive overpayments for the tax until ProviderOne edits are made.
Billing Guide and Fee Schedule
HCA will revise the Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT) Fee Schedule and Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT) Billing Guide to reflect this change by October 1, 2024. See HCA’s Provider billing guides and fee schedules.
