This bulletin is being sent by the Health Care Authority (HCA) on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH).
Washington Association for Community Health, Mountain West AIDS Education & Training Center, and Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Office of Infectious Disease are partnering to offer a monthly webinar series that will help Federally Qualified Health Centers leverage the whole care team to address patients’ sexual health.
Learning objectives
Attendees will be able to:
- Understand how Teen Health Hub WA, a youth-designed resource hub with information and youth testimonials on topics including sexual health, mental health, gender, racism, and more, can aid organizations in their work with youth.
- Identify resources from Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) that can support the provision of confidential services.
- Understand the eligibility requirements and coverage differences of the Health Care Authority's Apple Health's family planning services, Family Planning Only program, and After Pregnancy Coverage.
- Understand Health Care Authority's pilot of the Person-Centered Contraceptive Counseling measure.
- Learn about the Health Care Authority's plans for potential additions to the Family Planning Only program benefits.

Presenters
Alexis Bates Adolescent Health Consultant Department of Health
Alexis has worked at DOH for the greater part of the last decade and has advanced worked to center health equity and community voices in public health projects like the Maternal Mortality Review Panel, the Youth Advisory Council, and the recently released Teen Health Hub WA. Before Alexis came to DOH, she worked in health care as a medical social work and patient navigator.
Nicole Casanova Youth Engagement and Evaluation Specialist Department of Health
Nicole is passionate about using participatory methods to uplift community insights and turn them into action, particularly to improve access to sexual health services and education for teens and young adults. She has partnered with Washington youth on projects to prevent sexual violence, make schools more LGBTQ+ inclusive, dispel myths about emergency contraception, and most recently to increase access to reliable, youth-friendly health information through Teen Health Hub WA.
Andrea Estes Sexual & Reproductive Health Programs Innovation Manager Health Care Authority
Andrea's career has primarily been in the private funding side of social justice and nonprofit work. Most recently she managed a multi-million-dollar portfolio of investments focused on family well-being for those in poverty. Andrea has a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a Master of Business Administration. She and her husband parent two young children and recently relocated back to their hometown of Spokane.
