On Friday, February 9, 2024, the Health Care Cost Transparency Board (Cost Board) will meet in an all-day retreat. They will discuss:
- Affordability presentations from the Office of Insurance Commissioner (OIC) and Attorney General’s Office
- Presentations from Cost Boards in other states, including Oregon, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts
- Priorities for 2024

This meeting and all future committee meetings will be hybrid meetings. This means attendees may either
- Log into the Zoom meeting
- Attend in person to view and participate in the Zoom meeting at the Health Care Authority (HCA)

Communication Access Real-time Transcription (CART) services, or live closed captioning, are available for events, on demand. Scheduling CART services requires a three-week lead-time.

Yes. Every committee meeting will have a designated time for public comment. To sign up to provide public comment, please contact us at hcahcctboard@hca.wa.gov by 5 p.m. on February 8. You can also submit comments in writing at any time.
The board is responsible for reducing the state's health care cost growth by:
- Determining the state's total health care expenditures.
- Identifying cost trends and cost drivers in the health care system.
- Setting a health care cost growth benchmark for providers and payers.
- Reporting annually to the Legislature, including providing recommendations for lowering health care costs.
