The Governor’s Office is seeking nominations for the following seats on the newly created Safe Supply workgroup:
- One recovery housing provider (e.g., Housing First contractor, Oxford House manager)
- One substance use disorder treatment provider
- One expert in serving persons with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions
The purpose of the workgroup is to evaluate potential models for safe supply services and make recommendations for a safe supply framework to include in the Washington state substance use recovery services plan that would provide a regulated, tested supply of controlled substances to individuals at risk of drug overdose.
The workgroup membership shall be reflective of the community of individuals living with substance use disorder, including persons who are black, indigenous, and persons of color, persons with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions, as well as persons who represent the unique needs of rural communities.
The nominee(s) must complete an application, and then the Governor’s Office will make the appointment from the applications received. This group has a very short turnaround for its preliminary report and we are hoping to convene a group quickly.
Please send the name and contact information for an individual or individuals you recommend for this position to Amber Leaders at amber.leaders@gov.wa.gov by Monday, October 30, with a note as to why you are recommending them.
Once Amber has identified nomination(s) for these seats, she will send those individuals the application to complete.
