High Blood Pressure and Preeclampsia During and After Pregnancy

The Health Care Authority (HCA) is sending this message on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH).

The Blue Band Initiative is an effort to alert health care providers about a patient's risk for preeclampsia. Patients who are at risk of developing preeclampsia or having elevated blood pressure after giving birth will wear a blue wrist band during pregnancy and after delivery of their babies.

How to participate

There are a number of Washington state hospitals that hope to work together to implement the Blue Band Initiative in their facilities starting in September of 2023. Fill out this form if your facility would like to participate or if you'd like more information.
