Talking about meth use, chemsex, and harm reduction

- Discuss challenges in communicating with patients using methamphetamine.

John Nusser, MD, MS, FAAFP
Faculty physician, Family Medicine of Southwest Washington
HIV care and addiction has been central to Dr. Nusser’s primary care practice. Talking about sex, drugs, and HIV care are a few of his favorite things!
John Nusser is a family physician who has worked as a faculty physician at Family Medicine of Southwest Washington in Vancouver, WA since 2005. He received his MS and MD at the University of Washington in 2000 and finished residency at Natividad Medical Center, a county hospital in Salinas, CA. He has been credentialed with the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He is part of the Mountain West AETC faculty and has volunteered with the Cascade AIDS Project as their medical director. He sees patients in clinic, in the hospital, and does weekly home visits at a permanent supportive housing facility. His professional interests include addiction, HIV, hepatitis C, LGBTQ health, and provider-patient communication.

Dr. Kaydie Satein is a family medicine doctor in Portland, Oregon and is affiliated with PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine and has been in practice between 6-10 years.
