School-Based Health Care Services (SBHS) annual trainings and resources

Welcome back to a new school year! SBHS Medicaid Coordinators and providers who participate in the SBHS program are encouraged to visit the SBHS webpage to access helpful SBHS trainings and resources. 

Returning SBHS coordinators

The 2022-23 Annual Training for SBHS Coordinators is now available. This training is intended for school staff who have been the SBHS Medicaid Coordinator for their district for at least one year. Also available is the Annual Checklist for SBHS Coordinators:

New SBHS coordinators

If you have recently been assigned as the SBHS Medicaid Coordinator for your school district--welcome! New coordinators are encouraged to view the SBHS 101 Training and complete any action items on the Checklist for New SBHS Coordinators:

Service providers

New and returning providers are encouraged to view the provider training related to their specialty to ensure compliance with the SBHS program:

Providers are also encouraged to review the SBHS COVID-19 FAQ and the current version of the SBHS billing guide (July 1, 2022 to present) to ensure they are documenting and billing appropriately for services provided through telemedicine.

About the SBHS program

The Washington State School-Based Health Care Services (SBHS) program is administered by the Health Care Authority (HCA). School districts participating in the SBHS program may receive reimbursement for providing health care-related services to Title XIX Medicaid-eligible students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
