Apple Health (Medicaid) Provider Alert

Effective August 1, 2022, the Health Care Authority (HCA) clarified its telehealth and telemedicine policy and created audio-only procedure code lists, consolidating them on HCA’s website. Due to these updates, HCA has created and revised many documents on its website.

HCA published the following on HCA’s Provider Billing Guides and Fee Schedules webpage, under Telehealth:

  • A new Telemedicine policy and billing
  • An updated Clinical policy and billing for COVID-19
  • An updated Behavioral health policy and billing during COVID-19 pandemic (FAQ)
  • Audio-only procedure code lists

HCA also revised the following Apple Health billing guides, clarifying its telehealth and telemedicine policy. Several of these guides had minor changes not related to telehealth or telemedicine. For specifics, see the “What has changed” table in each of these billing guides:

  • Habilitative Services
  • Maternity Support Services/Infant Case Management
