Invitation to the Mental Health Assessment for Young Children community presentation

On Sunday July 25, 2021, a new law (HB1325) created a series of Apple Health policies designed to support developmentally and culturally appropriate mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children birth through age five. These policies, referred to as Mental Health Assessment for Young Children (MHAYC), include:

  • reimbursement for up to five sessions for mental health assessment.
  • reimbursement for provider travel to home or community settings for the purposes of assessment.
  • requirement to use the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC:0-5™).

Over the past year, the Health Care Authority (HCA) and their partners have worked to implement these policies.
