HCA working on plan to reimburse providers who dispense Naloxone
The Washington State Legislature passed in 2021 Substitute Senate Bill 5195 which requires the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to reimburse hospitals, behavioral health agencies, or pharmacies who dispense opioid overdose reversal medication to uninsured individuals by January 1, 2022.
HCA is working to create a process to meet this legislative requirement, but we are not able to implement one at this time.
We plan to announce a process in the coming weeks and will be able to process back-dated opioid reversal medication claims to January 1, 2022.
