Afghans and Apple Health updates
On September 30, 2021, the President signed H.R. 5305 into law; Section 2502 extends benefits for individuals from Afghanistan entering the U.S. as Humanitarian Parolee. The Health Care Authority (HCA) will continue to share updates as new information becomes available.
Eligibility for Apple Health
Afghans and their families arriving in the U.S. are admitted under one of the following programs:
- Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program;
- Special Immigrant (SI) Parolee; or
- Humanitarian Parolee
While the SIV program is not new, the Special Immigrant (SI) Parolee is a new immigration classification. For information on program eligibility requirements visit the Apple Health for Refugees webpage.
