HCA announces public comment period for amendment to MTP waiver

Amendment would allow Medicaid reimbursement for DHAT services

Health Care Authority (HCA) invites you to provide public comment on our draft amendment request. This amendment would change Washington’s existing Medicaid Transformation Project (MTP) waiver to allow Medicaid reimbursement for dental health aide therapist (DHAT) services at Indian health programs within the state.

DHATs are a relatively new, mid-level dental provider type who help extend the services available under the supervision of a dentist. MTP is a five-year Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration waiver from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Attend a public notice webinar

HCA will host two public notice webinars via Zoom to provide an overview of the amendment. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. Registration is not required.

If you are unable to attend, we'll be posting a recording of both webinars on our webpage.

Live captioning available: to request this accommodation, please submit a request to rachelle.alongi@hca.wa.gov as soon as possible. We will make every effort to request a Communication Access Real-time Transcription writer but cannot guarantee that one will be available.

Who should attend the webinars?

We encourage anyone interested in this amendment to attend. The amendment focuses specifically on authorizing Medicaid reimbursement for DHATs.
