Afghans and Apple Health updates
On July 30, 2021, the President announced that the first flight of Operation Allies Refuge had arrived in the United States, carrying families and individuals from Afghanistan who are eligible for Special Immigrant programs. Current and future arrivals that have a status of special immigrant lawful permanent resident or special immigrant parolee status will meet Apple Health (Medicaid) requirements. The Health Care Authority (HCA) will share updates as new information becomes available.
Eligibility for Apple Health

- Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program; or
- Special Immigrant (SI) Parolee
While the SIV program is not new, the Special Immigrant (SI) Parolee is a new immigration classification. For information on program eligibility requirements visit the Apple Health for Refugees webpage.
