Gov. Inslee makes emergency proclamation reimbursing providers for proactive COVID-19 vaccine counseling visits

The Health Care Authority (HCA) sends you this notification in response to Governor Inslee’s June 17 announcement regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.

In the fight against COVID-19, patients rely heavily on their health care providers for testing and treatment, but also for knowledge and medical advice. Eight out of 10 patients specifically seek the counsel of their health practitioner when making the decision to become vaccinated.

Gov. Inslee and the Office of the Insurance Commissioner are creating provisions to make proactive vaccine counseling visits to their patients a reimbursable service to the provider.

Provider payment for COVID-19 vaccine counseling visits effective June 28

In order to take advantage of this new billable service, a provider must meet certain parameters laid out in the proclamation.
