Health Care Cost Transparency Board seeking members for its Advisory Committee on Data Issues

Do you have health care-related data and analysis or actuarial analysis expertise? Consider applying to become a member of the Advisory Committee on Data Issues. This committee is part of the Health Care Cost Transparency Board (HCCTB). The purpose of the HCCTB is to reduce health care cost growth and increase price transparency.

An important part of the HCCTB’s work is using data to:

  • Identify Washington’s total health care expenditure.
  • Measure spending against the cost benchmark, which is currently being developed.
  • Analyze cost drivers.
  • Identify systems that exceed the benchmark.

Learn more about the HCCTB.

What’s the Advisory Committee on Data Issues?

This committee will provide expert advice to the HCCTB on data calls and in the analysis of existing data sources to determine cost drivers. Information gathered from data calls will also be used to inform:

  • Annual legislative reports on the cost benchmark.
  • Benchmark performance.
  • The identification of cost drivers in the health care system.
  • Policy recommendations to the Washington State Legislature about how to reduce the cost of health care in the state.

Who should apply?

Members of this committee must have proven expertise in health data collection and reporting, health care claims data analysis, health care economic analysis, or actuarial analysis. Specifically, we are seeking representatives of health issuers (who are subject to the anticipated data call) and large health provider systems (who will be measured against the benchmark).

What’s the time commitment?

Approximately 20 hours total. This committee will meet for about 10 hours between June and November of 2021 and have about 10 hours of additional work in between meetings.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in being considered as a member of the Advisory Committee on Data Issues, please submit your name and qualifications to hcahcctboard@hca.wa.gov by April 29, 2021

During the next board meeting, which occurs on Thursday, May 13, the HCCTB will discuss and vote to approve members of the Advisory Committee on Data Issues.
