Extension of Apple Health (Medicaid) benefits due to public health emergency

The Health Care Authority (HCA) sent the message below to subscribers of its benefit eligibility list on 2/3/2021, and is forwarding it to providers as an FYI.

What is happening?

HCA has learned from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) has been extended through April 20, 2021. The PHE is extended every 90 days; however, according to the HHS letter to Governors, there is a likelihood of the PHE being extended through the rest of 2021. HHS will provide states with 60 days’ notice prior to termination of the PHE.

HCA and its partners continue to maintain coverage for Apple Health (Medicaid) clients by extending Apple Health benefits during the PHE. HCA will continue to share updates as new information becomes available.
