2020 Annual Synar Report now available

The Synar Amendment requires states to enact and enforce laws prohibiting the sale or distribution of tobacco products to individuals under the age of 18. Each state is required to complete unannounced compliance checks of tobacco retailers and report the violation rate annually to the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The legal smoking age in Washington changed to 21 on January 1.

The 2020 Annual Synar Rate for Washington was 12.2%.

2020 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions now open

CADCA's Annual Survey of Coalitions informs training and technical assistance needs, advocacy efforts, creation of national partnerships and broader community-based prevention research. The Annual Survey of Coalitions Fact Sheet allows coalition members to see the successes of their work, how their efforts align with coalitions across the country and where additional assistance is needed.

All coalitions across the country can participate—you don't have to be a CADCA member. Your contribution is equally impactful whether your coalition is emerging or established.

To receive a personalized link to the survey, please send an email to survey@cadca.org or call 1-800-54-CADCA ext. 267.
