Health Care Authority releases Request for Application (RFA) for community-based prevention and mental health services, RFA No. 3882

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to increase capacity to implement direct and environmental alcohol, tobacco, opioid, and other drug prevention services in high-need communities, as well as mental health promotion projects and suicide prevention projects.

HCA/DBHR will award multiple contracts to Tribal government or Urban Indian programs, public or private community-based organizations, and government agencies to provide quality and culturally competent evidence-based, research-based, and promising programs to address substance use prevention, mental health promotion or suicide prevention. Proposals are due: November 1, 2019 at 2 pm.

  • A pre-application webinar will be held on October 9, 2019 from 11 am - 1 pm. Register here. All prospective applicants should attend; however, attendance is not mandatory.
  • Any questions regarding the RFA must go through the RFA Coordinator, Cassie Bryden at contracts@hca.wa.gov.

Get involved in National Drug Take Back Day, October 26

Washington State will again join the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) efforts in promoting safe disposal by participating in Drug Take-Back Day. Communities across the state are hosting awareness events and prescription drop sites across the state.

During the April 27, 2019 Take-Back event, Washington collected 16,757 pounds of prescription medication. Since 2010, Washington has collected, and safely disposed of 240,794 pounds of medications.

How can you get involved? Participate in a local event. Find a take back location near you at TakeBackYourMeds.org. Download, customize, and share the Starts with One Opioid Take Back Campaign materials.
