Recruiting for Health Care Workforce Sentinels is in full swing

Since 2016, the Health Workforce Sentinel Network, a state-led consortium, has been collecting and sharing essential information about the state's healthcare workforce.

The information comes from volunteers—called sentinels—who work in the health care industry. These volunteers provide information that helps track workforce needs such as recruiting hurdles, skills gaps, and changing health care roles. Educators, policy-makers, and planners use this information to keep education and training programs in sync with current needs. (See findings to-date.)

Recruitment for new Sentinel volunteers began March 19 and runs through April 30. Ideal Sentinels are people who can accurately identify workforce needs in their organizations and are highly motivated to creative positive change.

Washington’s Sentinel Network is a collaboration of the state’s Workforce Board and the University of Washington’s Center for Health Workforce Studies. Funding to initiate the Sentinel Network came from the Healthier Washington initiative, with ongoing support from Governor Inslee’s office.
