Honoring the Bite of Seattle Victims
The Washington State Office of Equity grieves with the families and loved ones of those injured, killed, and traumatized yesterday in Seattle, WA. On Sunday, July 26th, an active shooter attacked the crowd during a beloved culinary event known as the Bite of Seattle. The Bite of Seattle is a cherished annual food festival that has been around since 1982. In three days, this event brings in about 350,000 people from all over Washington state and beyond.
These people came to Bite of Seattle to enjoy the hard work of many restauranteurs, chefs, artists, and vendors. They came to celebrate and spend time outside eating delicious local food at Seattle Center with their loved ones. We mourn their loss deeply. Our hearts are with the Seattle community during this uncertain time.
