Department of Licensing:

Per RCW 43.24.086, industry licensing fees must fund the cost of administering professional and business licensing programs. Fee increases drive cash receipt to satisfy this requirement.

Cash receipts impacts are indeterminate. Companies are penalized $500 if in violation of section 5 of RCW 18.170, collected and enforced by the Department of Licensing. The department does not have an estimate of how many companies would be in violation, therefore cash receipts impacts cannot be determined. Revenue from these fees, once data is available to reliably forecast, would be factored into license revenue requirements for RCW 43.24.086.
