![BRG Solidarity Gathering Save the Date February 2024](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/WAGOV/2024/01/8876079/5216667/brg-solidarity-gathering-save-the-date-202402_crop.png) The Washington Immigrant Network (WIN) and the Hawaiians, Asians, and Pacific Islanders Promoting an Empowerment Network (HAPPEN) Business Resource Groups acknowledge that the distressing events taking place in Gaza are hurting state employees with familial, cultural, or ethnic ties to the communities involved in the conflict, as well as on employees who are watching the events unfold today. We know that seeing the consistent updates and images in the news can be traumatizing and triggering. With the increase in islamophobia, antisemitism, and xenophobia, many employees are processing these emotions and feelings silently. As BRGs, we recognize that it is our responsibility to support our members and allies, particularly when events that target our communities occur.
In partnership with the Office of Equity and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), WIN & HAPPEN will be hosting a Community Solidarity Gathering on February 7th to create a brave space for state employees to share how this event has impacted them to encourage authenticity, community, and to hold space for those who feel like they are going through this alone. The event is open to all state employees and BRG members. We encourage you to join us as we support our communities during this difficult time and bring awareness to how current global events impact state employees.
The Zoom link will be shared soon.

The Hawaiians, Asians, and Pacific islanders Promoting an Empowering Network (HAPPEN) Business Resource Group exist to improve lives by increasing Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (ANHPI) representation in leadership and general state employment and advocating for policies that promote anti-racism, equity, inclusion, diversity, and belonging in the workplace. We work to build a culture of inclusion and belonging that gives voice to the ANHPI experience.
Please share this information and encourage your colleagues, state-employed family, and friends to attend and get involved! We are a formal, enterprise-wide resource group conducting official state business. Participants are not required to take leave to participate per State HR's policy. If you experience any challenges in participating, please let us know.
