ADVISORY: Inslee and Cantwell to visit Tunnel 5 site for briefing and tour

Gov. Jay Inslee will meet tomorrow afternoon with incident command leaders of the Tunnel 5 wildfire in the Columbia River Gorge. Following a briefing at the incident command center, the governor will view the fires, meet with additional wildfire responders and possibly see some of the newer firefighting technologies being used by wildfire crews. Sen. Maria Cantwell will also participate.

Wildfire seasons in the Pacific Northwest are becoming longer and more severe due to climate change.

Media are invited to the briefing and wildfire viewing. No PPE is required. Closed-toe shoes are recommended. Inslee and Cantwell will hold a short media scrum following the wildfire viewing.
