Multilingual Learners in Washington

Long Term Postsecondary and Employment Outcomes of Multilingual Students Enrolled in Washington Public High Schools Report Cover

ERDC has published a report looking at long term outcomes for multilingual learners in Washington. Key findings from this report include:

  • Multilingual learners are more often students of color and have more overlapping participation or eligibility in other K-12 programs (Migrant education, Free-and Reduced-Price Meals, McKinney-Vento, Special Education) than all students statewide.
  • Students who successfully transition out of Washington’s Transitional Bilingual Instruction Program tend to have postsecondary and employment outcomes that are similar to or slightly better than the statewide average.
  • Overall, multilingual learners enroll in postsecondary programs and complete degrees and certificates at lower rates than all students statewide.

P20W Data System Study

ERDC will launch a P20W Data Systems Study in January to see if there are opportunities to improve the technical tools and processes we use to collect, organize, store, and prepare P20W data for analysis. For more information about this study, check out our website and one-page handout.

Update on Dashboards

We know folks are eagerly anticipating the release of our updated High School Graduate Outcomes Dashboard and our Statewide Public Four Year Dashboard. We are plugging away with data updates to make sure these dashboards are accurate and hope to have both released by early 2023. We thank you for your patience!
