2022 LLN Hispanic Heritage Month
Lunch and Learn Events
To celebrate the 2022 Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latino Leadership Network is organizing a series of four lunch and learn Zoom webinars. These webinars are open to all; you don't have to be Latino nor a member of LLN to participate.
You will need to register for each lunch and learn separately at least 24-hours in advance to be able to access the meeting link. We encourage you to register early as space is limited.
A recording of some of these presentations will be available in the Latino Leadership Network’s YouTube channel at the end of Hispanic Heritage Month.
We encourage you to share these events with other members of your agency and organizations.
If you have any questions, please contact lln@ofm.wa.gov

Topics touched on include populations of Spanish-speakers worldwide; colonial and pre-conquest languages of South America; Asian and Jewish Latin America; and dialectic differences within the Spanish language. This meeting will be in English, but participants are welcome to share words, phrases, or ideas that feel relevant to the discussion.

What's in a Name?
A Community by Many Other Name(s)
Thursday, October 6, 12 pm to 1 pm| Zoom Registration
In this webinar, members of the Latino Leadership Network will discuss how the community has been historically known and referred to in the United States. While there is no consensus within the community of what our name should be, historical and current debates about nomenclature reveal the complexities of immigration, acculturation, and identity for this diverse group. We will engage in conversation about names such as Latino/a/e/x, Hispanic, Boricua, Chicano/a/e/x, and others, to learn about the community’s heritage, roots, and markers of identity.
