Office of the Governor / Office of Financial Management sent this bulletin at 07/28/2022 02:13 PM PDTJuly 28, 2022
Dear Stakeholders:
The Office of the Corrections Ombuds is pleased to publish our first OCO Special Report and share the good news that Angee Schrader, Lead Assistant Ombuds, negotiated the dismissal of 56 infractions impacting 13 people in the veteran's pod at Stafford Creek Corrections Center.
The OCO's independent investigation identified policy and procedure violations of DOC 460.000 Disciplinary Process for Prisons. Based on the OCO's findings, Angee Schrader requested that SCCC leadership open an investigation and audit the veteran's pod infractions from January 1 - March 17, 2022. The DOC agreed to perform its own investigation and substantiated the OCO's finding of policy and procedure violations. Therefore, the DOC overturned 56 infractions impacting 13 people.
This outcome is a shining example of the many ways in which the OCO staff daily show up to protect the basic human dignity of the people living in our state's prisons. We look forward to sharing more OCO Special Reports with you very soon, as well as continuing to publish our Monthly Outcome Reports (MOR). A copy of this special report can be found on the OCO website here, attached to this email, and will be distributed throughout the DOC facilities, including in all law libraries. The OCO's March MOR can be found here.
We appreciate your support of the OCO.
