LGBTQ+ Executive Directors Gathering
Wednesday, May 4, 2022
3:00PM - 5:00PM
Online through Washington Nonprofits
Cost: Free, please register here to receive the zoom link.
It's time to get together again for our twice-yearly LGBTQ+ ED Gathering.
The LGBTQ+ Executive Directors Gathering offers a chance for people in the leadership seat at their organization to come together for mutual support and learning. At present, we are continuing to meet online. Being an Executive Director (ED) can be lonely and difficult at times—our work plates are overflowing and we are holding a great deal of responsibility. As LBTQ+ leaders, we face an additional set of challenges ranging from discrimination by the broader community to tricky politics within the LGBTQ community. Let's come together to connect, build relationships and support each other.
Who Should Attend? This gathering is limited to nonprofit EDs in Washington state who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or lead an LGBTQ+ community organization. Please help us spread the word to people in these roles. Because the role of staff leader is unique, we request that people not currently in this role do not attend. We do welcome people serving in an equivalent role to ED, e.g. co-director, artistic or managing director, leader of a fiscally sponsored project, or similar. We will strive to create a welcoming, confidential space for people of all races, backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. This gathering will not be recorded. Who Is Organizing This Gathering? There are two standing support/networking groups for LGBTQ+ EDs in Seattle and in Pierce County. The two groups saw value in broadening the circle further to include LGBTQ+ EDs statewide. Washington Nonprofits and the Washington State LGBTQ Commission are co-hosts. Following our first online gathering in February 2021, we have committed to convene the group twice a year.

Project Respect: LGBTQ+ Experiences with Healthcare Providers for Serious Illness
Are you an LGBTQ+ person with a serious illness? Or, are you the spouse, partner, widow, or caregiver of an LGBTQ+ person with a serious illness? If so, we would like to learn about your experiences when receiving health care. We are conducting a study to hear how LGBTQ+ persons and their spouses/partners are treated while receiving care for a serious illness. Our goal is to plan training for doctors, nurses, social workers, and clergy that will reduce discrimination and increase respect for our community. We are inviting you to fill out our survey. It will take about 15 minutes to complete. You can complete the survey without giving your name or any other information that could identify you. This study was approved by the Institutional Review Boards of Yeshiva and Fordham Universities. Questions may be directed to Gary Stein at GLStein@yu.edu. Please share this with anyone who might be interested in this survey. Thank you.
Click this link or type it into your browser yu.edu/ProjectRespect
It is best to complete the survey using a computer to see the questions and to type your answers. A phone is not recommended.
