Updated Data Dashboards

The High School Graduate Outcomes Dashboard now includes data from the Class of 2019.

The Early Learning Feedback Report now has data for 2019-2020 Kindergarteners.

The Juvenile Justice Dashboard now includes students from 2013 Cohort to 2018 Cohort.

The Statewide Public Four-Year Dashboard will be updated in mid-October. Check back on our website for updates. The new version will include Veterans data for the first time.

Completion of Dept. of Education Grant

In 2015, the Education Research and Data Center (ERDC), in partnership with Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, received a Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education to enhance current capabilities in using data from Washington’s statewide P20W longitudinal data system to address several critical questions developed with input from partner agencies and decision-makers. These questions fall into five basic categories: Student Profile, Quality/Achievement, Transition/Advancement Outcome, Program Effectiveness and Costs, and Teachers. 

We have recently wrapped up all the final deliverables for this grant, including:

1. Creation of an Adjusted Cohort Data Mart: this data mart expands on the existing high school data mart by including those who did not graduate from high school and their paths for a few years. The data marts provide the ERDC with readily-available and usable data sets without PI to draw from to facilitate speedier responses to data requests.
2. Data validation automation: ERDC developed code to automate the validation of several regular incoming data sets. The purpose is to save ERDC staff time in performing the validation and improve the overall time it takes to intake and process new data sets into the P20W SLDS for use.
3. ERDC research reports: Topics include health factors in early learning, foster care education outcomes, and mathematics transitions.

Farewell, Jim Schmidt

After more than 33 years working for the state of Washington and 27 years working for OFM, Jim Schmidt will be retiring at the end of October, 2021. Jim has been instrumental in the growth of the ERDC. From guiding the initial development of the data warehouse, to securing grant funding to sustain the current data infrastructure and building out ERDC’s cross-sector research capacity, he has left his mark on improving data collection and research in the state. Please join us in wishing Jim the best in his retirement and next adventures!
