HB 1253, titled AN ACT Relating to creating special license plates that support working forests, has been introduced in the House of Representatives. The Office of Financial Management has identified this bill as requiring a ten-year projection of increased cost to the taxpayers or affected fee payers.

If this bill becomes law it would allow vehicle owners the option to choose a new type of specialty license plate for their vehicle in lieu of the standard issue plate.  There is no information available and it is not known how many of these new specialty plates might be purchased.  The total revenue impact is indeterminate.  The fees over and above standard issue plates for this specialty plate are: $40 for original plates and $30 for renewal plate tabs.
